67-70 front bumper installation on 72 frame
I thought this was a direct bolt on installation. Maybe I am missing something here. What has everyone done to make it work. Seems mine does not line up with the two frame rails. maybe I just need to stare at it a little longer to get the brackets right etc.
ANyone have pics of this done, mid install etc. Last edited by vegaschevy; 10-22-2009 at 05:47 PM. |

Re: 67-70 front bumper installation on 72 frame
I believe the passenger side of the front part of the frame might be bent a bit. Not much, maybe half an inch which would not let the bumper work at all till fixed.

Re: 67-70 front bumper installation on 72 frame
ok some pics, the very front of the frame is cracked which I have seen numerous times on other trucks, I guess the frames are weak there. I wanted to get an idea of what others though about the passenger front frame rail. It seems to be leaned in towards the middle about 1/2" to much by the eyeball and some quick measurements. Can anyone see any other possible problems? I think I can bend it outwards and it would be fine. What is everyones opinions?
seems the Rad support is straight with no buckles, the fenders are crunched a bit in a few places. THe truck was just like this on the front when I got it but did nto notice that the front frame rails were not parallel. ANy other opinions on this? |

Re: 67-70 front bumper installation on 72 frame
I believe that all the center holes that pass through the frame are the same, but the ones on the braces are further out on a 71-72 bumper, make sense? So you may need the 69-70 braces. I was gonna swap mine out and only got as far as the ones on the frame. As to your crack, I do not see any problem you could not bolt it up to the frame at least. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Re: 67-70 front bumper installation on 72 frame
Do you have the short "L" brackets that bolt to top hole in the frame horns? The top bolt in the bumper then bolts to the L bracket and the bottom bolt to the hole in the front of the frame horn.

yep have the entire set of brackets, however the front passenger side frame looks to be bent in slightly, about 1/2" as compared to the edges of the AC condenser. Anyone else can look and see the outer edge of the frame and confirm this? It really just seems to not line up to well |

Re: 67-70 front bumper installation on 72 frame
anyone have pics of their bumper install of the bumper mounted and can see the brackets?
also i need an inside the frame to inside the frame measurement. In front of the rad support mounts. SOmething edge to edge. also maybe a pic or a guide on what the relation of the pass side fame rail is to the edge of the condenser. The drivers side seems to line up almost perfect, the frame on my pass side seems to be 1/2" inside of the edge. |

From the pics, yes it looks bent. Maybe a little twisted clockwise too.

Re: 67-70 front bumper installation on 72 frame
use your bumper as a template, after all, you have to bolt through it.
