15 X 12.5 on 65 stepside
Will these fit ok? I cam across a heck of a deal on these wheels. Centerlines all four for $100. I was looking at putting these on the back of my stepside with 325/50/15s on them but not sure how they will fit. Anyone with input please let me know.

Re: 15 X 12.5 on 65 stepside
Can't say for sure but I think the truck is going to require modification to squeeze something this wide in the back and I'm not sure they'll fit in front at all. 15x8's and 15x10's where popular back in the 70's, but with the 10's the wheels stuck out beyond the fenders and had to remain at stock ride height or the fenders rubbed the tires.
Someone may post pictures proving it works fine, but I've never seen anything this wide fit on a stepside without tubs or widened rear fenders. Lowering will also be problematic if this is a direction you want to go. |

it all depends on the back space of the wheel with the right backspace a 15 inch wide wheel will fit between the fender and frame

Well I guess the only way we'll know is to try it. Not planning on putting them on the front probably go with an 8 inch wide on the front. No plans on lowering the truck. I may raise the back end up a little.

15x12 w/that back space will hang waaaaaaaaaay outside of the fenderlip out back. Those wheels are for a narrower rear housing.

To make the 33x12.5x15 work on a stock width truck you will either have to narrow the rearend by at least 4.50 inches -or- use 8.50 wide rims with at least 5.75" backspacing, which I am not sure is even possible. I hope this helps. Last edited by lakeroadster; 10-24-2009 at 08:22 AM. |
