Started a new Project
I recently bought an 86 3/4 ton 4WD LWB for $400. Its in rough shape but no rust holes in it just a lot of surface rust. Now my cab mount on the rear passager side seems to have rusted out, either way the cab is leanin to the passenger side. I am going to pull the cab off it and see what happened but from what it looks like, the cab rusted through and is just sitting on top of the frame. Its the only area I found they may be rtusted through. How do I fix this? This is my first squar body, Im use to a 91 GMC 1/2 ton.

Re: Started a new Project
If it is indeed rusted through the floor, the way I would fix it is to cut out the bad area and weld in a piece of 1/8 inch steel plate. They make it look and function like the original body mount.
Or for a temporary fix, you can do what my dad did on his '79 Dodge that he had years ago. Jack up the corner of the cab and level it out with either a 2x4 or a 4x4 wood block.

Re: Started a new Project
Well for right now, Im taking the cab off and gonna look at it more closely. But from I could kinda see today, all I would need to do is patch it and what not.
