Hey Dave, I'm with you, I also want sholder belts, but have never even seen them. The one on e-bay is the first picture I have ever seen! How does it work? Does it replace the lap belt, or is it used along with it? When I was a kid I remember seeing mopars that double buckled, the lap and the sholder belt. From the pic it appears that it replaces the lap belt. These things are, in my opinion, the most rare of the options, Good Luck, I know I need it!

seat belts

A few weeks back I installed 94 silverado seat belts in my 69 chevy truck. I already had the 94 seat so the belts matched. I only had to drill one hole through the floor on each side to mount the entire belt set. I used the factory shoulder belt holes to mount the upper part of the belts. Looks great and is comfortable to use. I upgraded because of safety issues and the added hp of my new engine.

OK, Without sounding rude, I want to say that I know that other seatbelts will work, but this thread is asking has anyone ever seen a factory shoulder belt? If you have ever seen one would you say so here. I know there has to be someone out there who has. If so tell the rest of us how they work. Thank you

And it appears to me that the original poster was also interested in repros. Are we allowed to comment on that?

Talking seat belts

Okay, I fess up I have an NOS set of black ones. NO, THEY ARE NOT FOR SALE (this is typed with a smile on my face not a scowel. Just thought we should get that out of the way) The setup was pretty primitive compared to now. These belts were in addition to the regular setup. There was another lap belt on the same bolt as regular lap belt. The other part (male end) attached to the bolt hole in the cab pillar. This was a stationary belt that did not retract. On the plastic cover that covered the top of the belt, there was an indentation. The idea was to push the chrome part of the belt back up in the plastic for storage. The indentation would set in the square hole in the metal and hold it in place. Look at the pic on ebay and you will see the indentation. I have heard that some reproductions were made but they did not have the indent in the plastic. I would get you some pics but the belts are stored away for now. I believe ROD on the board has a pic of a complete set that was sold on ebay several years ago. Maybe he will post it if he still has it.

XXL , Chevyguy and all the board, I am sorry. I did not notice the question on repos at the end of mtdave2's post. I will try and read the post more carefully in the future.

Downtown and Joesjunk, I also thank you for clearing up the question of the oem belt, and also the reproduction belt.

i guess i dont understand how you click these things in. you say you use the sholder belt with the normal belts? that would mean there would be 3 ends!! the male and female ends of the lap belt, and the end of the shoulder belt. how do the go together?

oh, when i say repro, i mean a reproduction of the oem stuff. i know there are many newer truck belts that work great but that subject had been covered a lot.

i havent seen much on the orginal set up, i find it really interesting and im getting that feeling again.. lol you all know what i mean. once you get something in your head, you will end up buying it... lol addition is fun huh,

it appers in my truck I had them as I have holes in the cab for the shoulder mount and there is like scuff marks from the setup. It's funny how seat belts can make a guy drool. I plan on going back to the shouldr belts, but maybe using a more modern belt just I can figure out how to use it.

I have 2 complete sets of shoulder harness seatbelts. Joesjunk's shoulder harness seat belts are the ones that came stock from the factory. The picture of the one on e-bay is something different than that. The ones that Joesjunk has is what all the factory one looked like from 67-72. The one on e-bay may be a replacement or something like that, but at least with what the picture looks like it isn't truck. That is just my opinion, however I do have a picture of a complete dated set of 67's that you can look at and my dated 72's that I removed myself from a truck with them on the option sheet are exactly the same, with the exception of the female ends. Maybe I can clear it up a little. You have your male and female belts. You would connect the retractable male belt on the floor to a female buckle. Normal setup. Then you would pull the male shoulder harness out of its plastic cover and connect to another separate female belt. You have two separate, but identical female belts on the same bolt. Two separate male belts. One retratable on the floor and one stationary on the cab pillar. I hope this helps clear it up.

belts

OK, ready to puke!!! I found a set of these(red ones) about a year or so ago in a "homemade" pulpwood truck. Problem was, the belt was cut out of them. I remember the listing on the GB door for them(don't remeber the code). I could never catch the guy there and finally went back one day and the truck was gone. What a bummer!!!

where these an option for the suburbans? I was looking at my burban and saw holes up by the headliner for all three rows of seats. Anyone ever seen them in the burbans? How about using newer style suburban seat belts? Will they fit?

FWIW, if you do find a truck where the belts are cut, you could have the webbing replaced. I took an S-10 belt to an aircraft upholstery shop and had this done. He could only do black, but with a search you could probably find webbing in the color you want. See the FAQ regarding my seatbelts.
