hello from wyo with 56 pickup

Finally found time to register .I live in Wheatland Wyo which is 70 miles north of Cheyenne.I have a 56chevy pickup short box with big back window cab.It set for a long time and I decided to get it going this summer .It now has a narrowed 9 inch with 3.50 gears, chevelle subframe with power steering and discs. The engine is a 6.0 lq9 out of a 2004 escalade with edelbrock headers and flowmaster 40 mufflers.Trans is a 2002 4l80e overdrive with stock converter. It is a blast to drive and cruises at 2200 rpm at about 70mph it is kind of a sleeper as it still needs paint and body work done. You can see it with my oldest daughter driving on youtube at

Re: hello from wyo with 56 pickup

I'm a Cheyenne native now living in the panhandle of Florida. Not to jack your thread but I have a funny Wheatland story. When I was 10 I decided to run away from home. I had a bag packed and was on my way out the door. My mother asked me where I was going and I told her I was running away to Wheatland. I remember the anger I felt when she started laughing. She put me in the old 65 truck and drove me to wheatland. She asked me where I wanted to be dropped off. 35 years ago there wasn't much there.I said "Back home Please and thank you."
Anyway, Nice truck. Sounds very healthy.

I took it to the track for the very last race in september, it ran a14.65 at 96mph .My 60ft was only 2.29 I definitely need a converter but then would need a locker and gears

I only made the first two races this year and then I sold my racing truck. You got some pretty good times for a sleeper. I always found track prep in Douglas sucked, my best 60' was 2.1. I think my friend went to the last race of the season too. He had a black supercharged Ram SRT-10.

Welcome to the board. Really nice truck you've got. It's always nice to have another 47-59 guy here. There's a bunch of discussion on the GenIII's in these trucks over at the 47-59 section. Stop on over and let's chat.
