Qustion about 73 Blazer Buckets

What is the difference between the 73 blazer LOW BACK bucket seat and the 72 Blazer bucket seat?
Will the seat covers from a 72 fit a 73? They look the same.
BTW, I'm new here. Been lurking for months though.
Sooo glad this place is here.

Re: Question about 73 Blazer Low back Buckets

Welcome to the 67-72 Truck Board from West Michigan!

If you have a known 72 seat compare them carefully as the differences are minor. If the seats do look alike then the covers will fit.

The differences in the foam show up with the covers removed so if you remove the covers you can confirm whether or not the covers will fit. I have seen 73's that have the 72 shape in them.

Thanks.
I dont have a 72 seat to compare.
I just picked up a set of 73 lowbacks to put in my 72 swb and I cant find white seat upholstery for a 73!?
I can only find white for the 67-72. If I can cut down foam or something minor to make the 72 fit on the 73 I will but I dont even know the dimensions on either.

I am actually still in Iraq just buying parts for when I get home.
I cant freekin wait to get started on it.

The foam is difference like said. You can reshape the foam and put the 72' covers on. Trevor

I will take a picture of the Blazer seat and post it. It sounds like you are busy.

Wow. Im not new to forums and I always do a search before I ask the same question everyone else asks but i did the google search on the site and got a hundred answers that I wanted.

This is exactly what I was looking for.
Next question is modified bench seat brackets to make the 73 blazer buckets bolt in. I cant find that answer.

Re: Qustion about 73 Blazer Buckets

If your seats look like the picture then the 72 covers should work.

The 73 Blazers did not have the "hump" like the 72's have where the front part of the seat brackets fasten. To make up the difference the front "feet" are 1" taller then the 72's.

Here are a couple of pictures of a 72 bracket measurements. As it turns out the rear "feet" are the same height for both years as measured from the floor up the the track to where the "feet" attach.

The front "feet" on the 73 Blazer measure 4 1/2" tall from the floor to the attachment point. The front "feet" on the 72's measure 3 1/2" . Adapting the 73 to the 72 floor is a matter of reducing the height of the front "feet" by 1".

Your floor anchors will have to be located to match.

Jim

Re: Qustion about 73 Blazer Buckets

I have a question. I have a set of 74 K5 low back seats and the 2nd row bench that bolts in. Can I use a 71-72 K5 front and rear upholstery kit to do my seats? I can't find a kit for the 73-75 K5 seats that I quite like.

Re: Qustion about 73 Blazer Buckets

I modified two sets of bench sliders and made adapter brackets so I can use the existing outer holes in the floor and that way both seats are adjustable as well.

I think the back seat of the '74 has more square corners. The seat frame can be modified. I cut the handles off a hand cart that had the same curve of the 71-72 and welded it in.

The '72 covers fit fine

Bradford---Did you get the 72 covers on your 73 seats? I have the exact seats and was wondering how it ended up working for you?
