Blazer tank problem

Well i got my blazer tank in and ready to go went to put my bed back on and the cross seal under the bed floor rest on the on the tank not allowing the bed to go all the way down. So before I go to work with the cut off wheel blindly........what do I do

Yep, that's the problem with Blazer tanks. You'll end up cutting the crossmember. Some just cut, others cap it with flat stock welding on. It's up to you.

Use the cutoff wheel or a sawsall to trim the cross member to clear the tank. I had to do this on mine and if i remember correctly it had to be trimmed about 1 1/2 to 2 ".

I have the same question/problem with my 67 shortbed step. Does anyone have any pictures of the cuts that they did or what it should look like after modifying?

On a metal bed you can cut it to half the vertical thickness of the support and then overlap the scrap piece and plug weld it back in for strength. On a wood bed, you might have to cut more than half way and trim the scrap piece to get the clearance you need after welding it back in.

Measure twice, cut once.
