4inch lift
I want to put a 4inch lift on my 90 suburban and wanted to get your opinions. I was wondering if having the springs re-arched would be a cost effective alternative to new springs. Right now they do not really sag. Or would a shackle flip be an option. I can afford getting a kit but I do not want to spend a bunch of money on a rig that we use only occasionally. Please give me your thoughts.

Mudder,
Thanks for the advice. Do you have any suggestions as to where to get the best deal? |

Re: 4inch lift
I have had good luck with Tuff Country Lifts and they are usually lower priced than others. Do not even look at BDS lifts.

Re: 4inch lift
I agree on buying a kit.It just keeps it simple. My spring shop charges me $200 per axle to arch and add a leaf. That`s R & R included.but,to get up to 4",i don`t think the same main leaf will work. They`d need to find another main leaf that would suffice or make one. With a kit, your springs started lie to ride that height and especially with the softer ride springs you will be glad you went that route.I have a`91 Suburban with a 4" Tuff Country EZ-ride suspension.I went with Rancho 9000RSXs or shocks.I highly recommend those, too. They are pricey "AND" worth it.There still are more expensive shocks out there. These are perfect for multi-purpose use. They cost about double, but it`s like buying three different sets of shocks that only take turning 4 knobs to change. They`re 9-position but I just go with soft/medium/firm.

Re: 4inch lift
Tuf Country is in Utah and they sell direct under the name www.suspensionconnection.com .You can compare prices with that option.
