Swaybar Bushing Help - Heims?

So I picked up some replacement bushing from NAPA, these are the ones that actually go into the bar ends. Ruined both of them while attempting to press them. Used all sorts of sockets/pipe pieces/dish soap etc. One side might be servicable, but the other ripped. Is there a secret anyone can share?

I'm thinking about cutting the ends off and tapping them for heim joints. Thoughts on this? I am using ORDs quick disconnect, and since this is my DD I want a bar in there.

What size bar do you have? Sounds like the wrong diameter bushings.

It is the bigger bar. 1" I think, but there is only one part listed from NAPA anyway. There are two diff sizes for the frame side though.

Re: Swaybar Bushing Help - Heims?

You got the wrong kind for sure. One inch is not the biggest one. I would try to cut a slit in them and pop them off. Take them back and say they gave you the wrong kind. And go there with a measurements of the bar. And get the right size. The ones I used came from Moog and had slits on them so they just pop on supper easy. Check out my how to in the how to section of the fourm.

Re: Swaybar Bushing Help - Heims?

It is for a 1977 K5, but again these are the bushings in the eyelets (axle side) NOT the split ones that are bolted to the frame.

Axle side? So it's on a 4x4? I've never done them on a 4x4, try posting in the 4x4 and offroad forum.

Re: Swaybar Bushing Help - Heims?

Here's mine I ordered them from lmc their 1 1/4" for a 1980 K20. I haven't actually installed them yet but they fit perfect. And their polyurethane.

Re: Swaybar Bushing Help - Heims?

If its for a K5 then you probably need the smaller ones napa probably gave you the bigger ones instead.

Re: Swaybar Bushing Help - Heims?

Napa only lists up to 1" but that is the split pieces for the frame side. The eyelet bushings were rubber and only came in one size anyway. My bar on the K5 is 1.25" so this should be better all the way around. LMC is just not normally my go-to repop'r.

Thanks again.
