Front end gear ratio? 4x4

I am trying to figure out the ratio on on the front axle of my 4x4 with out pull ing the cover. It is an 8 lug dana 44, open disk.

When I jack up one wheel and lock both hubs the driveshaft will turn just over two revolutions per wheel revolution. I assume that this would be 4:10 (1/2).

I have only done this with rear ends before. Am I supposed to do two wheel revolutions?

Yes, 2 turns of the wheel. 4.10 should be correct. What ratio is your rear axle?

Your Dana44 front axle should be 4.09:1.

Re: Front end gear ratio? 4x4

So I could pair this up with a 14 bolt 4:10 or 4:11? Currently this frame has a dana 60 that is wider, halfway mounted in to it. The perches would have to be moved. I would rather move and make a 14 bolt work.

Yup, the factory did it all the time.
