help with wheels for 69 C-10 Step ?

Hello ;

I am new to this forum and have seen a lot of threads on wheel rim fit but am still a bit unclear...

my truck is stock 69 C-10 Stepside -- 6 lug w drum brakes

to find rim that will fit is it as simple as getting 15" 6 X 5.5 (139) or is there more to it?

for example I went on tirerack.com and selected 86 K10 4X4 as the vehicle as they didnt have a profile for 69 chevy pickups ...

specs for 1 Rim style I liked are below ,,,, will these fit?

Offset: -21mm Backspacing: 3.66" Bolt Pattern: 6-139
Rec. Tire Size: 235/75-15
Weight: 18.2lbs.

thanks Bruce

the stuff for late models (99 to date) will not fit properly. Anything for a 4X4 from 71 to 88 will bolt up. The back spaceing or offset on 88 - 98 4X4 may be off a little, but they will bolt up.

Re: help with wheels for 69 C-10 Step ?

I bought a set of knock off corvette rally wheels for my truck (as I'm sure you've figured out, there's not a whole lot of options for us six luggers).

They're available on ebay, through vendors, and there's been quite a few vendors that sell them at the big swap meets I go to.

Mine are 15x8 with a 4.5" backspacing. My tires are also 235/75R15.

Re: help with wheels for 69 C-10 Step ?

The center bore is the biggest issue preventing later model and aftermarket wheels from bolting up. Later wheels and many aftermarket wheels have too small a center bore. You need a large center bore 6 lug wheels found on the 71-88 Chevy/GMC 4x4s and the older 6 lug Toyota 4x4 trucks. Many of the Toyota 4x4 guys sell their old aftermarket rims and those will usually fit.

Re: help with wheels for 69 C-10 Step ?

Thanks!

I bought them off ebay a few years ago. They originally had the thick rings (3" maybe) and derby caps, but I swapped the rings for skinny ones, I was told they're supposed to go on the 15x6 rims, but look perfect on my 15x8's, and I recently picked up the smoothie caps at a swap meet. If you go to any large swap meets, keep your eye out for vendors that sell wheels, they'll usually have them, at least they do at the swap meets I go to.

Here's a close up:
