Any point upgrading to 1 1/4 rotors

I am going to be ordering my drop spindles soon and was just wondering if it would be a good idea or not. Would it improve braking? I know I would have to replace my calipers and rotors, anything else I am missing?

basically the thicker rotors are more resistant to warping and are better for towing because they can take more heat before they warp.

o k, the 1 1/4" spindles are $60 cheaper than the 1" spindles. So that would help cover the cost of rotors and calipers. But I wont be doing any towing so maybe its not worth it

Slotted and dual piston calipers are the best upgrades.

Re: Any point upgrading to 1 1/4 rotors

Your absolutely right, I was looking at it mainly because of the price difference on the spindles. Looking on autozone's website calipers, rotors, and pads, would run around $88 dollars. So if I order the cheaper spindles I could in effect get front brakes for $22

Hey 3r!c84, are you talking about the wheel bearings and seals? I was thinking it would be a good idea to replace them with the spindles

definately replace the bearings with the spindles. no sense in putting old bearings on new parts. they are too cheap to worry about not just replacing them with fresh parts

At least one side on the rotors use different bearings anyway (1.00" vs. 1.25")....

So you can save 60 bucks buying the big brake spindles and the big brake parts cost 88 dollars. You get new rotors, calipers, and pads for 22 bucks. That's a no-brainer. New brakes for 22 bucks is the way to go. If you get the small brake spindles and save the 22 bucks, you have old brake parts still. Poor way to save 22 dollars.

Re: Any point upgrading to 1 1/4 rotors

yeah but I just want to make sure I wasn't missing something.
So if I get the 1 1/4 spindles I just need to get new calipers, rotors, pads, wheel bearings, and seals right?

Re: Any point upgrading to 1 1/4 rotors

that should cover it. while your going to have everything apart new hoses probably isnt a bad idea either. if you cant remember them being replaced they probably need it. keep in mind brake hoses rot from the inside out so you cant always tell when are going bad from the outside
