Re: The what did you get done thread standard time edition 11/1/09
I dident get much done truck related since I ran out of wire for the welder. I did have to use my truck this week to tow my brothers ranger into town after he broke the timing belt. Not to bad his little 4cl 96 ranger went 230K on the factory belt. Bad thing is the ballancer was stuck on and we broke it durring removal after 2 days of waiting we got the new ballancer in and ford updated the design and actually cast in a spot for a 3 bolt puller. Other then that had my brothers and thier kids over for halloween as well as the wifes little sisters we took the kids out trick or treating it was ok just had a rough night since her sisters stayed over and kept us up half the night.

Re: The what did you get done thread standard time edition 11/1/09
Went to GoodGuys Charlotte to see cars in the rain. The fog was horrible Saturday morning, damp cool, you get the picture. Anyway, lots of nice iron, met some nice folks, spent too much money, etc etc.
The trip was a maiden voyage of sorts for the 454/700R combo in the Heap. The truck ran GREAT, other than a slight 700R TV cable adjustment the 700 mile round trip was flawless. Well, 98% flawless, throttle return spring is too stiff, need cruise control, and my door window channel is leaking air somewhere, I'll find it.

Re: The what did you get done thread standard time edition 11/1/09
Friday night took Momma out for BD dinner. Saturday worked on projects around the house. Did some painting, and detail work. Washed the daily drivers and got the oil changed.
Saturday night went to bro-in-laws house and fed the trik-or-treaters while his kids went on a hay ride. Today, more paint work....

Spent the day watching a little ball. Built a couple skateboard ramps for the boys (small ones), and tore the front clip off the 79 for its move into the new garage from the barn.

Re: The what did you get done thread standard time edition 11/1/09
I didn't get much truck related done since I've been sick with some kind of a bug the last few days, but I am in the process of getting 2 pairs of seat belts from a suburban that being parted out not too far from me. That way I have a back up pair. Also left my truck at the career center instead of bringing it home. Gonna tinker with it some more this week.

Re: The what did you get done thread standard time edition 11/1/09
Nothing to do wit the truks at all . I have actually been in Washington, DC since Thursday . My wife had a business trip that took her ther and I tagged along . Worked out great since we left early Thurs and had the day from noon on in DC to look around . Friday she had to work a few hours but we were able to get out again and see more . Walking through the cemetary is sobering . We left this morning and got home about 3 . You should have seen this small towner in the subway system . I figured it out quickly though and didnt miss any stops . Very well worth the trip .

Re: The what did you get done thread standard time edition 11/1/09
Yesterday was Halloween prep for the house (she loves a thorough holiday display for the neighbors). I was able to give the 74 a bath before it got too dark.
Today, I had to work. But . . ..... during the middle of the week I got some needed maint done: replaced the water pump & thermo gasket (both were leaking), popped some new belts & hoses on, stopped the horrible screeching noise when the ww's were enabled (linkage came loose & was dirty/dry), & got my ac/heater blower fan working again. With all the rain we've been getting lately, no wipers or defrost-air made driving 'fun'.

Installed a floor dimmer switch in my '86 Suburban as the rod for the column switch disappeared sometime in its past. It was actually really easy, just tapped into the stock plug at the bottom of the column.

Re: The what did you get done thread standard time edition 11/1/09
Yesterday, I tried to replace the broken drum brakes on my s10. Got both wheel cylinders changed without braking the lines. Had to find a picture in the manual because everything was toast. Covered in brake fluid and gear oil (New axle seals went in last week), broken springs and bent parts. Got one side done only to find that the spring kit I got only had two shoe retaining springs and no springs for the dog bone. Started on the other side and realized I the adjuster was missing and no spring on the dog bone to reuse. What a pile!
Saturday I was going to put a seal kit in the kitchen faucet. After fighting with the plastic nuts and braking the "ears" off the nuts I got the grinder out and cut them off. Got the faucet off and found out the base was rusted and not worth putting a seal kit in. $211 later I got a new faucet in and now I think I really want to remodel the kitchen to get rid of the crappy cabinets and flimsy stainless sink. I love the snowball effect!

Replaced the injection pump on the 87 6.2, Runs too hard now, appears the pump gear is 1 tooth to far advanced. rats, means major surgury again. getting tired of coolant on the ground. Oh,tightened the leaking hose too. But it starts and runs!

Re: The what did you get done thread standard time edition 11/1/09
Had a busy weekend. Friday after work, bent up some speaker brackets. Saturday...cleaned the whole house, went to a local Halloween parade, raked leafs, took Genevieve trick-or-treating, and had some friends over afterwards for pizza and a couple horror flicks. Sunday...worked on our bathroom renovation, and watched the Vikings spank the Packers...in their own house! Monday, took a vacation day from work and worked on the bathroom some more.
The pic of the 77 was the third load to the compost site so far...have about two more full loads by the time the leafs are all done falling.
