Carb question

I have a '72 custom 20 4x4 that I bought about a month ago. It has a mildly rebuilt 383 in it. The guy I bought it from put a edelbrock performer carb with electric choke on it. Numbers on it say 1406 8071. Looks to be a 600cfm model. I knew this wasn't going to work if I wanted to go 4 wheeling.
Couple questions:
1. What would be a reasonable price to ask for for it?
2. I am looking for a new rebuilt q-jet. I have found a place called I-5 automotive and also SMI sean murphy induction. I have researched Jet and haven't seen the greatest feedback on them. Any info on these products or ideas on others would be great.
Thanks,
Jesse

Re: Carb question

id ask 100$ odo for the carb. your doing good looking for a q-jet carb ! i love mine !!! ... i put a jet q-jet on my dads car a coupple of years ago and was never happy with it, the throttle shaftse seemed too tight to me, and the pipe thread plug in the back for the big vacuume port ended up cracking threw and causing a big vacuume leak(just siliconed it ). id prolly go for one of the edelbrock ones but they are pretty expensive !
