what would you guys do?
well i have a 92 gmc sierra shortbed stepside. 350 with 700r4, shift kit, centerlines, great daily driver cold a/c,pw,pl. all around great shape.
This guy wants to trade me for his 1981 chevy blazer factory 2wd. 305 v8, th350, daily driver pw, pl. everything works its ready to go. i want to do it but my sierra is such a reliable daily driver that i guess im afraid to do it. although the blazer would be much more comfortable for m wife and 6 month old son. what do you guys think? would you trade or no straight up? here are pics of my gmc and the blazer |

Re: what would you guys do?
I would definitely do it. I just picked a 77' 2wd Blazer over the weekend and someone already made me an offer to buy it as is............................ I wish my wife felt the same way about it

Re: what would you guys do?
I'm guessing about $2,500 in it's present state. I say go for it.

Re: what would you guys do?
Around here, either would be a 3 to 4K truck. Your pickup is very nice and well taken care of, but like someone else said, there's plenty of them around right now.
That Blazer looks solid, with some questionable changes. Nothing that couldn't be changed up to your tastes, but you'll spend money to make it as clean and nice as yours. It's definitely not as nice as what you have. But it's rare. Also, you're going to lose power and mpg going from a 350/TH700R4 to a 305/TH350. I'd still do it. |

Re: what would you guys do?
Nothing against the Blazer, but I think your truck is nicer. Better engine, better transmission, better interior, better paint, and better wheels too. I feel like you would be getting the lesser end of the deal.
I would keep the truck and see if he wants to sell the Blazer. Also, if you are wanting a family hauler check out a used S10 Blazer.

Re: what would you guys do?
With the son, i would go with the Blazer because of seat belt placement in relation to dash.
Plus, it allows room for you to take on or two of his friends to a cruise night or lake later on. I love the look of your truck but I wish I had more room in my project now that my daughter has turned 6.

Re: what would you guys do?
Honestly, I really don't like anything he did to the Blazer. But it is solid. With the correct rally wheels, grille, some lower moulding, paint the rockers/half cab/top white - it'd be one sweet looking daily driver.

Re: what would you guys do?
lol already had a 99 s10 blazer and we got rid of it before anything else broke on it. with that money i bought a 79 blazer. then this 81 came along and i know they are valuable and i love the old trucks but i think i agree with a few because i think im going to keep my shortbed. i will just hold out longer and continue to make my 79 what i want and when i have the cash i will buy another just because well it seems that i never have enough old cars/trucks. thanks guys who knows though maybe the wife will just tell me to do it!!!! wouldnt that be great....

Re: what would you guys do?
It's just my $.02...I think that Blazer is fugly. Mismatched dash cap, speaker holes cut into the doors, the cheesy seats...ugh. Sure, it has potential, but your pickup is a good lookin ride. Those centerlines look nice. Pick up an extra vehicle for the family stuff.

Re: what would you guys do?
Good call. I love squares, but that Blazer is busted, Holmes.
I'd pass, too. I've learned my lesson in regards to buying trucks with "potential". Your stepside is way clean. Like Pyro said, you'd definately be getting the lesser end of the deal on that one. Last edited by JCampbell; 11-03-2009 at 07:37 PM. |
