Can-Back Canvas Camper Shell

Does anyone have one one of these, their made by Can-Back. http://www.can-back.com/
The blue truck was the cover of 4 wheel & off road in june 2005 that's where i first saw them. I really like the look of them but they cost $1400 for a long bed and theirs no way im paying that, so has anyone tried making one similar?

hmmm...you could make the hoops from conduit tubing, just bend to match the shape of the cab. mount some larger diameter pipe in the bed to secure it. find a piece of canvas and put some grommets in... it think to make it would only cost time

Re: Can-Back Canvas Camper Shell

you could prolly get a boat shop to make the canvas for you if you cant do it yourself the tubing should be pretty straightforward

Re: Can-Back Canvas Camper Shell

Yeah it would probably be pretty easy to make the frame, the hardest part would be making the canvas top for it. Does any one other than me like the look of it?

Re: Can-Back Canvas Camper Shell

It looks like it is similar to the Softopper canvas tops for the Blazers that a guy out here has. His was the Prototype for a company that makes them here in CO.

Re: Can-Back Canvas Camper Shell

Saw them recommend something like that on an episode of Truck U yesterday. Looks like a cool idea. The one the showed folds up toward the front, kinda like the opposite of a convertible top, and allows you to use the bed.
