Back On Track With the Body Swap
-
I had some interruptions so the October project has drug into November. I started a body swap between the Blue '67 and the Maroon '69 a month or so ago and I just got back to it today. Here is a link to the original post on it: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=364798 I started taking the '67 apart this morning and didn't run into any major snags. I had to think a while to come up with a way I could remove the front clip by myself and the redneck jack stands is the only thing I could come up with… I have the cab ready to lift off of the frame so I will do that first thing in the morning. Leon,
You mean Pat wasn't out there helping you lift that front clip?! That's why I like you so much. You get things done, regardless!

Thanks guys. The Blue truck lives on and the Maroon truck bit the dust. (so to speak) Yep, Pat was out there helping me. She drove the lawn tractor and pulled the frame out from under the front clip while I held the back of it up to clear the front tires.... I had to come in and look up how to get the shift lever out of the tower so I can lift the cab off of the frame. On to search... LockDoc

Re: Back On Track With the Body Swap
Remove the dust boot, pushdown on the metal retainer equally on both sides and twist to the left, if memory serves me right.

Re: Back On Track With the Body Swap
Rob,
Your memory serves you good, that is how to remove the shift off the top of the transmission. Danny

Re: Back On Track With the Body Swap
Well, my son and his wife came down from Des Moines today so he helped me set the bed back on it and we took it for a test drive. It had a couple of issues (I needed to change the headlight/alt. harness for one) so I was late coming in from the shop tonight. I was going to take some pictures tomorrow but I will post these two. You have to remember that this truck is going to be my everyday beater so it isn't going to be anything special. I just want it to run good... I think it'll do that..
