How much to pay someone to weld floor patches, etc?
Hi all, I am about to have someone do some welding for me on my 71 C10. I am tired of seeing the road beneath my feet
Here is the work that is going to be done: weld a large floor patch panel (drivers side) weld smaller patch panels on the passenger side, probably 3 or so weld both rocker panels in place (already installed, but PO riveted them) weld 2 inner rocker panels weld 2 rear cab floor support panels I have had this fellow do some glass work for me before, seems to be a really honest fellow, and does good work (has a great name around here). He gave me an estimate of about 350 - 400 bucks, that is only him welding parts in place, I'll supply all the patch panels. Does that price sound about right? Thanks Sinister, I thought it was a good deal but wanted to check, I have never paid anyone to do straight welding like this before. I SO look forward to not getting my pants wet when driving in the rain

Echoing the others and saying that is a good deal. That's a lot of work to replace floors, etc.

I am sure there are some variables here you're not telling us but you can pick up a mig welder for about that price and do it yourself. Craigslist/Ebay...
True, you would still have to perform the labor but it might be enjoyable and you would have the satisfaction of knowing you did it. Just a thought.. The price does seem really good though! |

Thanks for all the input folks I would do it myself, but just don't have the time. I planned to do it, but just with work and all I will come out ahead having a pro do it.....my welding is not the best lol.

Re: How much to pay someone to weld floor patches, etc?
For that price, if you have never done it before, you better let him do it so you're not buying more patches to fix mess ups. That is a pretty good deal.
