Throttle Cable Compatibility (Edelbrock)
Im helping a buddy of mine replace the throttle cable on his 1972 GMC. The set up he has now is a 350 with Edelbrock carb with some form of aftermarket bracket with the square opening. It also uses the little ball and socket clip. When I went to the parts store to order one, they didnt go back that far in years. I ordered one from a 74 chevy and an 85 chevy (to compare and contrast the different styles). What do you guys think? For those who use Edelbrock, what cable do yall use?

Re: Throttle Cable Compatibility (Edelbrock)
I don't think that bracket with the square hole is not an aftermarket bracket. It is for the kickdown isn't it? I changed over to a 1405 edel. from a q-jet and the bracket, cable worked just fine. I had to make a link or a spacer for my kickdown so it would kickdown at the right time. That took a little toying with to get it right. I can snap some pics if you need bro. Let me know.

Re: Throttle Cable Compatibility (Edelbrock)
Nicholas, you could snap some pics for me because I have an Edelbrock carb and have yet to hook up the kickdown linkage. Thanks in advance.

Re: Throttle Cable Compatibility (Edelbrock)
The bracket withth the square is a chrome aftermarket piece that could be loosened by two screws and slid down an adjustable part.I found the right cable at the store today, however, in order for the throttle to be seated at idle, it now will bottom out and only go about 70% full throttle. How might i fix that?

Re: Throttle Cable Compatibility (Edelbrock)
Ok here are the pics, sorry it took so long, had to go out to Tucson last week, just got back. After looking at mine, I do have the bracket you have, along with the kickdown bracket below it. I adjusted mine linkage bracket the full range of adjustment away from the carb. I have 100% throttle and then some. Mike, I can measure the kickdown extension for you, but it will probably be a trial and error process when you get ready to install yours. Let me know. Crm318, does the cable look like the one in the pic. My cable is actually too long. It has a pretty good curve in it in the pic. Hope this helps.

Re: Throttle Cable Compatibility (Edelbrock)
The bracket is the same as yours. I would say that the cable is too short. I think if I shave a little bit of the part that slides over the smaller tube, I might be ok.
