Re: quick question

Do you have the casting number off of the back of the block? If you do we could run that to see what it is. Honestly I don't know of any 327 4 bolt main blocks, but that doesn't mean they didn't exist. Worst comes to worst you could just drop the oil pan and have a look see.

Re: quick question

I am not 100 percent, but I don't think the 327 came with a 4 bolt main block for production vehicles. If you see one, I'd bet the block started out with a 350 crank.

BTW.
My 68 K20 burb with it's original large journal 327 is a 2 bolt.

Re: quick question

you could always keep the original block and externals and stroke it....thats how i'd go with the 307 in my 72 burb if i didn't already have a low mile bad boy 406sbc for it. i am sorry, but a high end screamer like a 327 doesn't belong in a truck.......better suited to a light drag racer.

Re: quick question

Hi
I saw your post, and Just wanted to say that 2 bolt mains dont get much credit. You would have to put an awful lot of horse power and drag race the heck out of that engine to have any problem with those 2 bolt caps failing. You have a nice little motor there. Good luck!

Re: quick question

ya i have thought about boring this motor out and rebuilding it. but then i thought why not just go big block and have a 4 bolt main for extra safty of the motor for not much more.

Re: quick question

I have a big block. Are you ready for 9 miles to the gallon at the ever rising gas prices?
