Horse Collar Engine Mount 283

I am changing my 1961 GMC 235 I-6 to a 283 V-8. Is the Horse Collar mount on the I-6 the same as for a V-8? I am also changing the three speed to a 700R4. Will the Horse Collar and the 700R4 mount be sufficient for mounts?

Thanks

Peter

Re: Horse Collar Engine Mount 283

if you are going to a trans rear mount as in 700r4 then you should side mount your eng. as in your orig setup it was mounted b/sides of the b/housing and the frt of the eng, now you want 1 on each side of the eng and 1 under the trans. one should have a 3 point mounting system which helps stabilize the eng from twisting due to the torque. being mounted frt and rear is like being on a pivot

You will also need to change your trans xmember.
