Re: whats the trick?
I always cut the heck outta the old gasket after removing the center strip . I wind up if its stuck to the gasket using piano wire to cut the windshield away from the rubber
they also sell a tool for this but it isnt cost effective if you only do this once in a while

Re: whats the trick?
Run a screw driver around the weather stripping on the outside to loosen it up and spray the wd40 under the seal. The gently push on the top of the windshield. work your way back and forth and take your time.
I bought a new windshield about 5 years ago for about $75. Shaded with the antenna. A used one was $50 if they pulled it. Maybe the price has gone up, but for the price I'd rather have a new one.

Re: whats the trick?
Trucks do not use a sealant. Camaro is different. It uses the ribon seal.

Re: whats the trick?
I think mine was about 150.00. New gasket and locking strip, and they came to the house. After pulling out the old one and discovering rust holes, I wasn't going to deal with the installation.
I cut the snot out of the old gasket, a couple of putty knives and silicone spray. I wasn't trying to save the old one, it just came out that way.

Re: whats the trick?
use a utility knife with a brand new blade, go on the inside of the truck, and cut between the pinch weld and the outer piece of the gasket. Its about 3/8-1/2 wide if i remember rite. once that is completely cut off (mostly the sides and top) you can push the upper corners with the palm of your hands and it will slowly start to unstick, depends if anyone has used sealant or not. I usually have someone on the outside ready to catch it. Me and dad take em out in about 5-10 min tops. Hope this helps.

Re: whats the trick?
i have always cut the gasket if you wan the glass, and break the glass if you want the gasket.
i run a razor tracing the glass 100% the way around. have always come right out. |

Re: whats the trick?
I always cut the gasket on both sides with a utility knife then gently tap the glass to break it loose. I have one in my garage that I'm not going to use. Too bad you aren't closer. I'd sell it to you cheap to get it out of my way so that I don't accidentally break it. ...Joe
