Re: 2wd to 4wd dually

alot. not to be a smart ass but there is a ton of info if you google it or this site. For starters a transfer case and proper adapter and output shaft for your transmission. a dually front axle so you only have one spare tire. a set of leafs or some badass 4-link front suspension. a few holes to be drilled on you frame and a driveshaft. Not too much but definately work.

why do you want to make a 4x4 when your sig says future lowering plans and 18" wheels?

I'm doing this to my truck now, you can search for my s/n and that will give you an idea. There are also couple other builds out there.

Re: 2wd to 4wd dually

you can mate a NP205 with the adapter for the 400 directly to your 2wd tranny

Re: 2wd to 4wd dually

Add crossmembers,driveshafts,linkage/shifter,exhaust work...
if you find "any" 4wd model in 73-87 era for a donor you`ll be miles ahead. That`s Blazer to 3+3.The 1t axle will bolt up to the rest and all that is the same 10-30 series.

What? Only if it had the proper out put shaft, and there are 3 different TH400 output shafts. He might get lucky, but at worst case he'll have to change his output shaft and find the correct adaptor for 205, 208, or 203 case.

Re: 2wd to 4wd dually

It is a lot of work, but not all that hard. It can be done. Like already mentioned a donor truck would make it easier on you as well. If you want to retain bud wheels you need a DRW D60 front, or buy billet spacers to bolt on your new 4wd front axle.

I have done this about 15 times and never had to change the output shaft.

Re: 2wd to 4wd dually

Ok good deal. Most of the time the 1 ton dually big block 2wd's have the bolt on output yoke. Everyone I have torn apart has I didn't think a 205 would slide on over threads of that out put shaft.
