3/4 ton rear ends?
Does something like a 2-1 gear ratio seem odd for a 3/4 ton? I'm pretty sure its an Eaton rear end. It has bolts on the front like a 9inch but I think it also has a removable rear cover. What rears were available back in 67-72 2wd. trucks. I'm thinking Dana 60's and Eaton or was there other options? Looking at a manual shows there were two different rating on Eaton's 5200 & 7200 lbs. Is there an easy way to determine which one you have without disassembling anything? I need to replace the pinion yoke and a few seals plus brake so any help would be great. Thanks

Re: 3/4 ton rear ends?
I believe you have a 4.10.If it`s a 3/4t you have the HO52 (5200#).The only difference is in the brakes and wheel bearings, basically. The HO72 had a side lash adjustment in the ront cone, but so did some HO52s.The center section is identicle and interchangeable.
The Dana 60 would be the only other rear used.Basically that was the GMC rear and the HO52 was the Chevy. But,there are exceptions. The leaf spring option could land a Dana under a C/20.

Re: 3/4 ton rear ends?
Thanks guys. I'll have to jack the truck up again and do the spin the pinion count the tire thing again. So if a Dana 60 being the standard on big blocks would that give it a heavier rating of the three? I'm not planning a swap or anything like that. I know the Dana 60 is about as tough rear as you can ask for. I'm just curious how the Eaton compares to it.
