Re: Door lock deletes?????

I have never seen them on fleet vehicles. I drove alot of fleet vehicles back then and why any vehicle had these is news to me. Maybe it the for runner for the new vehicles w/o the right side door locks today

Maybe they were on prison trucks.

Re: Door lock deletes?????

I don't know. The prisons where I grew up used to let the trustees drive the pickup trucks into town to go to the hardware stores and such. I just thought maybe they did not want them to be able to lock the doors. It was just an idea. Seems like a waste of time putting them in. Who would have a reason not to be able to lock a truck or car?

You can't lock the keys inside one of these trucks, if you try to shut the door with it locked, it will pop up when the door is closed.

(I wonder how many people will now go outside and try it )

Re: Door lock deletes?????

Would the military have doors with no locks on the outside? Would have to be something that spent its life either in use or locked in a secure compound/site or something that nobody would want to nick.

Re: Door lock deletes?????

I'd say that the army may have vehicles without locks. It would have to be a fairly big customer or market to have a use-specific part made. (if it was cars, I may think taxi's)

Re: Door lock deletes?????

My '77 GMC tilt cab dump truck has one on the passenger side.

The passenger side is locked from the inside and the driver's side is locked with a key.

We have a winner! One truck also has a 427 in it. (probably a tall deck)
