Re: seat belt retractors

Pull the cover off and then extract the belt all the way out. Take a stiff paint brush and clean it out as best as you can then use a very small amount or lubricant on the moving parts. Let it retract in and out a few times then pull it out again and wipe off any excess you can. Reinstall and hope you never need them.

Re: seat belt retractors

Has anyone here actually changed out the retractor cylinder? I've tried the lubricant route without success.

Re: seat belt retractors

attempted mine = FAIL. I wound them up before putting them back together and they won't retract. The actual mechanism is simple and easy to take apart and clean so I'm not sure where I went wrong. Hope sombody else chimes in...

Re: seat belt retractors

Finally took the time last night to get my belts apart, cleaned and reassembled. It was actually a pretty simple procedure when all was finished.

Re: seat belt retractors
