Vans?
Might be a little bit of a stretch, but does anyone know anything about the G10 vans? What's the skinny on the suspension? Same as the trucks?
The wife was hinting at letting the Sub cool for a while (hard to get little kids, etc up in that beast all by herself) and maybe picking up a SWB G10 to turn into a cool little surf wagon. Drop, 17's, paint, etc. Anybody have any pics? Maybe something like this: Last edited by JCampbell; 11-19-2009 at 04:01 PM. |

Re: Vans?
Same suspension. But, Van frames are wider. so.... I don't know if they use the same uper and lower controle arms.
But, I have always wanted to do that. I don't have any pics but it's a great idea. |

Re: Vans?
The rears are wider. Pretty common to use one in a 4wd, matches the front track width.

Re: Vans?
im going to send this to the general discussion forum as this is basically only pickup trucks.. try searching on the net for these you may find a site like this devoted solely to these trucks... i believe chevytalk also has a forum for them

Re: Vans?
I've worked on vans and the part that really sucks is the lack of room to work on the engine.

Re: Vans?
I love those old G-vans. My dad has had several over the years and still has a 1990 conversion van that he bought brand new. In fact we had a blue one just like the first picture but it was a 1977 G30 model with a 400/Th400. I also twisted wrenches on many of these G-vans when I was a FedEx tech during my college years. Great vans!
They were actually in production for a long time too from 1970 to 1996. The front suspension is common with 72-87 2wd trucks. The rear axles are as well but the spring perches are a wider width. One word of advice if someone ever asks you to change a heater core in one say NO! What a PITA! job that is! I changed my dads last weekend and the entire dash had to come out. This weekend I get to take the dash out again because it appears I got some vacuum hoses backasswards where heat doesnt come out of the right ducts. Agh!!!

Re: Vans?
I've recently been thinking about ditching my DD GMC Safari for a SWB G10 with a 4.3L, but not too easy to find around here.
edit: just looked on my local craigslist and there's 3 of them on there for under $2000!
