Steering column issue.

Hey everyone. I have installed a new tilt column in my 70 gmc. Got it put in and it has some movement in it. Is there a bracket that mounts on the column on the firewall somewhere? It will technically work but It will drive me nuts.

Can you post a pic? I know there is one for the outside firewall for the lower area, did your old one mount up right?

For the inside, there should just be one mount at the top, (Someone let me know if i am wrong)

Ill try to grab a pic today. But no I do not have anything on the engine side of the firewall.

There's one bracket on the inside and one under the hood.

That's some nice detailing right there. Call me fruity, but that really makes me have some special feelings inside me. I wish my truck looked like that.

I do not have the bracket on the outside. My column is out a floor shift truck. Is there a difference? Because my column does not look like it will bolt up to anything.

Those pics are of a floor shift as well...

Can you post up a couple pics of your column?

I'm not sure what you got but you HAVE to have the column bolted to the firewall and also underneath the dash to work right. You may have to fab a bracket to make it work but you have to have the column attached at two points.
