Question Simple question: Smoothie cap?

I'm just curious if anyone knows offhand what diameter smoothie cap will fit the stock '71 wheels.

I think this is correct, but I could be wrong. Anyone?

Re: Simple question: Smoothie cap?

10 1/8 inch inside measurement is what you need for 5 lug truck wheels.

Re: Simple question: Smoothie cap?

Sorry to bring back an old thread, but I've run into an issue.
Baby moons apparently don't work with our stock rallys as the wheels have no tabs or clips to mount them. Unless someone knows something that I don't, I think I might have to get some new smoothie wheels.

Never thought about the tabs...

Why not just order the tabs? Any supplier for the 1950 cars wheels carry them.

Re: Simple question: Smoothie cap?

There are a lot of different tabs, but none appear to be made specifically for our trucks. these are the closest I could find.

You've got to keep in mind that 67-72 trucks never came stock with rally wheels. They came stock with steel wheels which have nubs around the center for hubcaps. Any 67-72 truck you see with rally wheels, they have been added later in the truck's life sometime.

These are stock type wheels for 71-72...

Re: Simple question: Smoothie cap?

I have a set of baby moons that fit on internally nubbed wheels. I have them for my smoothie styled wheels. I dont have a set of truck rally wheels handy, are they internal nubs? Maybe this style would work?...They are the ones in my avatar.

No, they're the 10 1/8'' size that matches the large ring on the rally wheel in the pic and there are no nubs on the wheel or the baby moon.

Re: Simple question: Smoothie cap?

The rally wheels don't have bumps as they weren't designed to use moon caps. They use bolt on center caps. I don't think a large moon would like right on the rally anyway. Looks like you are going shopping for some smoothy rims n moons or stock steel truck wheels and large moons. If you like the look of the moons and the slot openings around the rim then look into the Artillery style rims which have gained some popularity of late.

Yeah, that was just an absent minded oversight on my part. When I had the moon in hand, crouched by the wheel, I looked at them both and just thought... uuhhhh, damn.
No big deal. The smoothie wheels that I like are not ridiculously expensive or hard to come by.

Re: Simple question: Smoothie cap?

Problem with stock steel hubcap type of wheels is that they are only 6 inches wide which sure limits tire possibilities. I like to run 275/60s on all my trucks and there is no way to cram one on a 6 inch wheel.
