How can I identify what year model front end I have? I bought an unfinished project and can't remember what year model he said the front end was.

Re: What front end????

Post a picture of the front end. Grills are different on numerus years, hoods are different. Post a pic and let everyone here give you an idea.

Or 73-87, if 5 lug, those parts with a lttle effort fit also. I would say you are going to have to find a known vintage front end to compare it to, the 71-72 are the same, as are the 73-87 with the exception that some have 1" rotors and some have 1.25" rotors (thickness of rotors that is, I believe in those years the spindles/ rotors/ and brakes are not interchangable). I don't know the thickness of 71-72 rotors off top of my head.

Re: What front end????

71-72 had disc brakes and steel screw in control arm bushings.
73-87 had disc brakes and rubber control arm bushings.

73-87 upper control arms have a 3/8 hole in the front of them for the brake line mounting tab to screw in to which 71-72 do not.

71-72 brake lines run across the crossmember and mount to tabs on each side right in front of the crossmember.

73-87 brake lines did not run across the crossmember at all. They ran down the inside of the frame rails.
