which 5 lugs fit?

which wheels fit on the GM 73-87 trucks? seems like I've heard the Irocs will not fit. will s-10 rims fit? 90's truck rims? how about 5-lug chevelle, camaro, nova, etc? same lug pattern? I'm looking at getting a set of roller wheels for my '73 1/2ton 2wheeldrive. I've heard 5x5 for trucks. I dont want to buy something that will not fit. thanks in advance, Rick

Re: which 5 lugs fit?

You are correct for the bolt pattern on a Chevy 1/2 ton. They are a 5 X 5" bolt pattern. They also may be listed as 5 X 127mm. Any chevy 1/2 ton wheel will fit from '67 up to '98. Also from what I have found surfing the net, the 90 to 97 Chevy Caprice Classic and 94 to 97 Impala SS have the same bolt pattern. I just don't know if the lug holes are big enough to fit over the 1/2" wheel bolts.

Re: which 5 lugs fit?

I keep seeing newer Jeep rims on Craigslist advertised as "5x5". I dont think the center holes on these rims are big enough though. anyone had experience with that?

No. Jeeps share the same bolt patterns as Fords. 5 on 5 1/2.

Half ton chevy trucks went to 5 lug in 1971. Any wheel from '71 to about '98 will bolt up, but the later model stock wheels may look a little funky because of the offset.

Some companies, like Wheel Vintiques offer a Camaro rally in a truck bolt pattern, but there a little more pricey...seeing as how you are looking for "rollers".

Good luck.........JC

Re: which 5 lugs fit?

astro vans were also 5 on 5 believe it or not. the hub opening was a hair small but a piece of sandpaper in my hand took care of that.

1971 was the first year Chevy had 5 lugs on 1/2 ton 2wd's...

here is a pic of my wheels. there off of a '90 gmc 2wd. i have the centers for them but they wont work because their held on with nuts that screw onto the wheel nuts which are a different size. other than that they fit great. and dont rub on my drop spindles as much as my rallies did. I bought the whole truck for $200.

Re: which 5 lugs fit?

that looks good MOOSE. I love using different era and model rims on different trucks. I've got Escalade 17's on my '06 Silverado. I'm afraid to drop my '73 just because I can't crawl underneath if need be

Good luck.........JC
Actually some of the Jeep Grande Cherokee's are 5x5", but the centerbore is too small. With a dremel they can be made to fit.

And like JC said, "Good Luck"

There what was on the truck when I bought it. 235/70/15. Someday I'll put on some 60's, maybe 245/60/15 on the front, and 275/60/15 on the back. Unless I can afford some new wheels!

Jeeps with 5x5.5 are early Jeeps (46-85) and full size jeeps through 73, they ran 5x4.5 on wranglers 87-06 and cherokees, Grand Cherokees from 99+ are 5x5, newer(07-up) JK wranglers are 5x5, as well as Commanders

I *think* those are 454SS/Sport Truck wheels.

There was also a painted argent version available in that same timeframe.

I also think they are 15x7, IIRC.

Wow! You have to "think" about GM wheels? I am so dissapointed..

Yes, as Keith stated those are the GM 454SS/Sport Truck wheels. Honestly, I "thought" they were 8"...

I hadn't realized how much stuff I forgot until you guys ask me all these questions....

Yes - I was disappointed to find out they were 7" wide. We did take a set and widen them to 8"; I *think* they are still around here somewhere.

(Geez - there's that word again)

The argent wheels look good on your tow rig.

All GM fullsize cars back into the early 60's and 70's used 5x5 bolt pattern.

No, the 5x5 was generally not used until '71 (not sure about Caddys and stuff). So it was the B-bodies from '71-'76, '77 and up had 5x5 only on the wagons and police package sedans. Regular sedans were 4.75.

Also, there were 5x5 pattern Pontiac rallies that I think would look great on these trucks.
