Show off!!! I hope these fixes of yours that you have shown on the board get placed in a reference file so we can follow your steps when we are ready to try the fix. I know you have shown rockers, cab corners and blanking a gas filler hole in the past.

I can't tell on pic 5, is that a butt weld or is it lapped? What do you use for clamps? Oh yeah, and how much finishing do you do on the rear?

Just about all of my rust repair welds are butt welds. This makes the "back side" easier to clean up and get sealed with e-prime and paint.

wow, do you just do those spot welds and then grind it down? I am a wrench fetcher as far as welding goes. Looks great!! Thanks for the pics

dubie, yes just alternate "spots" til its all welded then start the grinding-this is where you must be careful and take your time.

wow, that really helps me out a lot as i have no prior experience with fixing rust and stuff. I saw that someone mentioned that you had done the same thing with your rockers (pics of the steps) and was wondering if you could post that up as well.

thanks,

ray

Great job as always, a true master of metal......I gotta do that same thing one of these days, if my fender doesn't totally rust away before then.

The important part is making sure your pieces match up properly. Thats why you have to choose a common line between the two. If you can weld properly ya can't miss! What grit do you use to bring it right down to the metal w/out digging too much away?

ebfabman,
Great set of pics! Very helpful to us novice wanna-be-bodymen. One question. Does picture 6 show the "final welds" or did you weld it "solid" in between all the spots?

Thanks for sharing your expertise
Kent!
