I snagged me a windhield frame for converting my '80 blazer to a full convertible today. I still need door pieces though. If anyone has some pointers/tips, they would be greatly appreciated. I'm also still on the lookout for the pieces to convert my doors, or a full set of doors off of a 73-75 blazer. Thanks, Laramie

I got my doors modded for the convertible top last night. The cuts at the top of the vent window were the most challenging, but still no big deal. I am still needing the driver side window channel and the cap that goes on the edge of the door if anyone has an extra.

Willy, when my 77 was cut, they just used the lower section of teh window track from the 77 and a long screw to make the cap stay put. Mine didn't have the welded in staal caps, and didn't really need them. You will want to make sure the rockers are reinforced; there will be a good bit of body flex if you don't.

I am pretty sure the caps are being repopped if you can't find a used pair.

I'll try to get some pics here in a day or two when it warms up, my garage is a clust $#%& right now. I plan on reinforcing the body after I swap my frame out, but before I cut off the half cab. The way it sits now, the driver side rear of the body is twisted @ 3" down from the rest of the truck. Thanks for the idea on modding the window channel, I'm sure that if I spent a few minutes I could make a bracet and mod my original one, its just so much easier knowing I'm using the correct parts, given I already used the right parts for the rest of the swap. Progress will surely be slow on this thing since I'm waiting on my baby to be born, he's due any day now! I cant wait to teach him his tools!

Nobody makes the inserts that go into the doors, and drilling the spot welds out of the old brackets pretty much destroys them. Mine had a long sheetrock screw (3" maybe) that hits the tab the channel bolts up to. Simple and effective.

Congrats on the son. It is life changing, for sure.

Is that guy holding up the "pitchers" sign the caddy from Happy Gilmore?
