What's the cost to drop and bag a '72 Burb

Newbie here... so new I haven't even bought my Burb yet. I spoke with a guy I know who owns a company who manufactors aftermarket lift kits with air ride tech stuff to boot. Explaned to him that I was wanting to take a '72 Burb and drop and bag it. He quoted me " between $2000 to $4000. Is this really what it would cost or should I be looking elsewhere when the time comes. Could someone give me a breakdown of the parts needed to drop and bag a burb???

Thanks in advance to any who respond. The work and mods many of you have done is what's inspired me to persue a Burb as my "hotrod"

Cheers

Re: What's the cost to drop and bag a '72 Burb

Prices have probably changed since I looked into it for my 71 c20.
How low are you wanting to go? drag frame or just a little drop via air?
air ride was around 1200 in 05
drop spindles 400
drop control arms 300
c notch 100-250 depending on what brand you go with.
That is just the basic parts, without labor involved. look at hell of alot more if your taking it to a shop.

Re: What's the cost to drop and bag a '72 Burb

Seems he was pretty right on with the price. How much would it be to c notch and drop without the air ride? Seems the bags would cause the price to be much, much more?

Re: What's the cost to drop and bag a '72 Burb

i bagged my own burb, but its not near as low as i want it so im gonna have to spend some more to get it where i want it. find your own kit, you can find some great deals from people who switch directions on their project. for the front, you need 2 bags, front bracket kit. rear you need 2 bags, and at least a c notch. that will get you about a 6 inch drop give or take. now figure up the tank(s), compressor(s), valves, fittings, water trap, switchbox, wiring, gauges, etc...you start getting pricey. to give you an idea, heres what i spent:

4 bags at 59.99 each, front back brackets/cups from suicidedoors - $300 give or take

compressor - used $90

tank - new $85

fittings - $120

switchbox - $30

8 3/8" valves - used $120

leader hose for compressor - $20

all 3 air gauges - $75

airline for gauges and bags - $40

still need - water trap, check valves, wiring kit, drop spindles, bolt in c notch.

thats just basic still need list. it can change on how you want your setup to be, and how low you want to go.

you can check out my thread to see how low a basic bag setup goes, i just dont have a notch on mine. im going to add drop spindles, recessed bag cups in my lca's. that will get me about 6 inches lower than what it is now. and for the rear i will put 2" drop blocks, rear "z", and a c notch for the axle. that will pull me down another 8 inches. see how easy $$ starts adding up. lol

on a side note, all these prices dont include labor, so far i have done every thing myself. so add that too....

Thumbs up Re: What's the cost to drop and bag a '72 Burb

Thanks everyone for the great info. Not sure which way I'll go on the drop. At least now I'll have an idea of the cost. Cheers
