the steering wheel in our '65 GMC 930 is a slightly different color than the column. We are pretty sure it is the original wheel because the truck only has 39000 miles on it as soon as we learn how we will post pics

As far as we know, we are the secound owners, it was a farm truck and I can't see them changing the wheel

It's a Canadain truck , we got chevy engines here, maybe Chevy wheels?, 'cause i have to agree it looks a lot like the wheel in our '65 chev parts truck

The chrome nobs are chevy ?

I believe the wheel and the dash knobs have been changed, somewhere along the way. Both are Chevy-specific.

In the early sixties, say '60-'64, the wheels were the off-white and later light fawn. The wheel is a '60-'65 Chevy Custom steering wheel with chrome horn ring assembly and the dash knobs are 4-5-6 Chevy chrome/black knobs, specific to the Custom Cab/Custom Comfort package.

Regardless, you have a nice GMC.

With a 1/4" socket driver, remove the two screws from the back of the chrome horn ring button. Upon removal, you can read the factory GM numbers on the horn button. This will tell you what year and model it came from...probably from a '64 Chevy truck.

I've seen both wheels like 62gmc910's and the one below that are described as custom wheels. What trucks were they available in? Mine is a 66 that has the wheel like this one.

I really have to wonder if the canadian gmc builders dipped into the chevy bin a lot because I am pretty sure those knobs are the same as the ones on a 66 GMC that a friend in highschool drove and those knobs were the ones it left the dealer with because I asked his dad who bought that truck new if they had been changed because they were different than the ones on my '62

My 66 GMC is Canadian built and it has a lot of Chevy parts. Talking to other Canadian GMC owners we found they are basically Chevy framed vehicles with GMC sheet metal on the front. And some of them had the Chevy custom wheel in them. The side badges on ours are the same as the Chevy but with GMC on them. I do not see these on the US trucks. My rear suspension is coil not leaf. Stuff like that shows up.

I see that the parking brake is by the 4 speed shifter. I have a 64 chevy water truck that looks the same,is this stock or has it been changed from a bigger truck? just wandering , thanks

leaf spring 1 tons 4speed trucks came with the trans mounted park brake.

So did many of the '60-'64 Chevy C20 trucks. I have had a few with the floor-mounted e-brake, similar to the big iron.
