I fired it up today and drove it down the driveway and back then down the block. Did well, still needs attention to timing, I think the dist is one tooth out, we will deal with that later. And I only have low gear, don't know why. Seems to have enough tranny fluid, transfer case shifter where it needs to be. Wow, lots of stuff to trace down, carb still running fat, eyes burn after a little bit of running in garage. Did put it fatmat today and it is purdy! Time for carpet!

The mat looks great! Maybe somethings not right with the tranny linkage. Hope its something silly like that.

Must feel great to be that far! Congrats.

Low tranny fluid doesn't effect shifting, it wouldn't go into gear period if it was to low.

Not to pick but I always thought you needed 'total' coverage of the Fat Matt for it to be effective?

You do really nice work, the blazer is turning out amazing.

Not true. You can use just sections here and there to help with sound deadening. The more you use the better.

I actually ran out so I need a little more to finish soome of the areas up front but I could not wait to show you guys! I think the detent cable is keeping the tranny in first gear. The change over to the holley carb has left me with some issues to resolve siince the position of the links and such is not quite the same. So my project for this pm is to unhook the detent ant try it again. The tranny was rebuilt so I am hoping for the easiest fix. I did adjust the bracket as far out as I could on the detent cable but it may not be enough. We will see.

Is the vacume line hooked up from the back of the carb to the tranny? (I know, stupid question, but I had to ask)

Question though... what's the black rubber mat over the fatmat? Or is that the fatmat and the shiny mat is another sound deadener? I'm not to familiar with Blazers, sorry.

That is a floor level mat that was original to this blazer. Keeps the mat or carpet from riding down in the flutes and gives a semblance of level on the floors. Fired it up tonite. Got lots of work getting it tuned in right, still runs like a soviet tank. Shifts now though, good thing!

very clean and straight.

I don't know enough about troubleshooting transmissions to help. I'll ask a few of my motorhead pals tomorrow.
