I have been getting ready for my first season of snow plowing and I think I am ahead of the game but just to check if I have forgotten anything I figured I would run it by you guys.

Just to give you a little background about me I have lived in Maine all my life with the exception of 8 years I served in the military. I am no stranger to snow and driving in bad weather.

I have in the truck:
All spare belts, incl plow pump belt
extra hyd fluid
power steering fluid
2 extra UV joints
coolant mixed with water
tow strap
come-along
tranny fluid
stupid blinky orange light on top of cab
and a 12v coffee maker

If there is anything not on this list you think I should have let me hear it
For Comm's I have cell phone,VHF, and CB.

well tranny fluid is power steering and pump fluid so next time just buy trany fluid and save some $$....

depending on where you plow one of those safety vests is a good idea

ditch the coffee maker is just spills everywhere ..buy a good thermos

get a spare hydralic hose they should be all the same fittings so get the longest one and a handfull of zip ties

don't forget a few wrenchs

Yea I do the same thing only diff is I havn't missed a season

ALSO book air fair to someplace warm for mud season

One thing that I would carry with me is a good, bright flashlight, possibly one like I have that I modified to plug into the lighter plug. I can snap a pic of it if you want and tell you how I modified it. I would also carry an extra jacket/coat with you as well.

What about a blanket, extra heater hose and Rad. Hoses, fuses, flash lights, with extra batteries, hose Clamps, flares/triangles and maybe a extra change of cloths and gloves.

Great idea's guy's I am on the fire dept. so a lot of that stuff I keep in the truck anyway. The coffee maker is spill proof. I really have no need for tire chains. The hose's and hose claps is a good idea. I am what I call a "North Eastern Redneck" so zip ties are abundant in my truck. I just hooked up some work/back up lights that light the dark side of the moon. Thanks again, all I need now is snow.

Duct tape, spare fuses, piece of electrical wire (makes a good jumper if the neutral safety switch goes out, or to tie something up). Small can of WD for drying out wires/connections. Maybe some ballast for the bed of the truck. My truck gets a little "lite" in the back with the plow on.

A back-up plan. You don't want customers PO'd if your truck breaks. All they know is they want to be plowed out.

Hi from a fellow Mainer. The only plowing I do is my own driveway.

Well the coffee maker is out. My girlfriend tells me I am not aloud to drink more than one cup of coffee a day due to health reason's (and she wonders why I havn't popped the question yet). So I guess it will be a thermos full of hot cocoa. As far as tunes we have a kick ass country station up here, and the Ipod lives in the truck.

Don't forget the BFH. You never know when you might have to pound something back into shape plus it will come in handy if you need to put one or both of those spare U-joints in.

Nope I listen to 99.9 the wolf. I keep a heater going in the truck so I keep the 50/50 mix with anti-freeze. The tool box in back is full of tools so the BFH is std equip. I just feel I a forgeting that one thing that will bite me in the ass. I got the insurance taken care of and my girlfriend made me some invoices. Well I will figure out what I forgot when I need it.

ummm take a good alarm clock.......sometimes a quick one hour nap at 3am will make the next day not so blurry and when everyone else is trying to get to work you won't have a full 24 or more hours under your belt

Don't forget the 500 pounds plus of traction sand in the bed to help balance out the load and to give those rear tires a little more grip.

Speaking of grip how much tread do you have on your tires and what kind of tread pattern are they?

Snow tire's. I have a little money tucked away so I can get studded snow tires if need be. I already have 250 lbs worth of tools in the tool box and an I-beam for a rear bumper. I might through about 200 lbs worth of sand/salt mix in a couple tray's right over the rear axle.

I bought a set of Hacapalita's (spelling) for my 350 it was the best $$ I ever spent for the winter.....I plowed along side a loader with a 10' fisher on my truck..the thing goes great better than any other tire I have tried....a little pricey but worth it
