So, I believe I installed flexplate wrong

Or, I unseated the torque converter and didn't re-attach it correctly as now I hear a heavy clunking around when the engine turns over but I can't go into gear at all. Does anyone know anyone around Lincoln who rebuilds transmissions or does anyone have any suggestions as to how I may fix a possible problem such as this? Thoughts?!

Re: So, I believe I installed flexplate wrong

When you installed the tranny, did you "seat" the torque converter 3 times?

If not, that third "click" is when you would have engaged the tabs that drive the pump. If they were not engaged, you likely broke them off, and you will be in the market for a rebuild to repair that.

I learned this the semi-hard way. My buddy and I did it wrong the first try, luckily for me, it was his truck and his transmission.

Tynee is correct if you did not seat the torque converter for the three seat clicks you have a problem. You may still drop the tranny and see if there is any visual damage and redo and see if you are ok. I hope you did not do much damage.
