Need a stock Roof height for a 4x4 P/U

since winter is coming I have been thinking about a 4x4 project and have a line on a 67.....

one small problem is my garage door is only 7 feet tall (can you see where I'm going with this) my f 350 with the cap on is a squeeze for the door...

so I need to figure out what the stock height is and then figure how much total lift ( tires/body and springs) I can put into it ...Then find the best way to get it to 6 feet 11 inches...

Re: Need a stock Roof height for a 4x4 P/U

I already have the lift on mine so I am no help.

However, you could always go with a low profile tire until you are near completion...just don't plan on parking in the garage once it's done??

Re: Need a stock Roof height for a 4x4 P/U

I can check when I get home... I'm think 4" w/33's will easily work... maybe 6" with 35's but that would be close I bet...

Re: Need a stock Roof height for a 4x4 P/U

My 71 K20 has no lift with 33 inch tires and fits in a 7ft garage door with about 4 inches to spare. Its dark outside and no outside light where my truck is sitting so I cant get exact.

Re: Need a stock Roof height for a 4x4 P/U

You shouldn't have any issues running 35's with a 4' lift.

What did you figure out about it fitting in your garage?

Here's my '69 running 33's and a 4" lift. My cab isn't mounted yet, but looking at the picture I don't think mine will fit with the lift that I have. By the way my garage door openings are 6'-10".

Mike,

I'm way ahead of you. I found a set of steel wheels to help with my height dilemma for the time being. The garage is on hold for the time being.

Right now with the 4" lift and steel wheels I'm at 6'-6" give or take an inch. I measured my frame from the top of the front cab mount.

I was looking at your frame and since I measured from between the cab and bed ( about 2" behind the rear mount) I think you better check it again...and I think you better start the new garage???....it looks like you may find it alot closer, your going to loose a bit from the weight of the cab/bed but I wouldn't count on it.....

Re: Need a stock Roof height for a 4x4 P/U

The springs should settle a little once I mount the sheetmetal, that along with the steel wheels should give me enough clearance to get it in the garage. There's still a good bit of work to be done to get to that point, so I'm hoping to get a garage built in the meantime. At least that's what I'm hoping anyway.
