Oddball Modifications?

What are some oddball modifications you have seen done to our trucks? By oddball I mean things not commonly done, things like the "Ashtray slide out LCD screen." I have two myself that I plan on attempting to fabricate, but they are under wraps until further notice.

So, if you have something that's interesting and don't mind sharing it with the rest of us let's hear it! Pictures always help!

Re: Oddball Modifications?

It's not on my Chevy, but for my offroad truck, I have the Burrito mod for heating up a hot lunch while on the trail. It consists of 2 homemade L brackets mounting to the header studs and a $3 Walmart pencil basket.

Haha, that is too cool! Has me wondering how I could do that on my 250!

I've heard this is what they used to do in the military back in the 50's and 60's (maybe more than that, not sure). They had gimbled holders that would fit a military spec'd can of beans or whatever onto the manifold of a Jeep.

I did it when I was working for a farmer this summer, but all I did was put my food on the dash, I measured temps past 150 degrees up there one day when I was bored. (it was over 100 in the shade)

I would throw hot pockets on the intake manifold of my jeep when I was wheelin'. 45 min and they were good to go.

I mounted a 2000 Trans Am fuel tank under the bed instead of the usual blazer tank.

I'll show them when I do them, every one that is shown is optional. If you don't want to show it then don't and keep it to yourself. I've got nothing to show as of this moment.

Re: Oddball Modifications?

my buddy used to have a beautiful '72 swb cheyenne super big block red/black and it was midly lowered.

Since they own a bunch of exhaust shops he fabricated some wicked lake pipes out of 4" stainless and they ran from behind the front wheel down to the rear wheel and turned out. Also he had cut-outs and a line-lock.

The lake pipes were sweet, wish I had some pics.

Re: Oddball Modifications?

Here's one in my Longhorn - a very custom cruise control, courtesy of Pep Boys and about a pound of epoxy after the PO cut off the end of the turn signal switch and epoxyed on the switch. It ran off the number one spark plug - there were a lot of wires and looked pretty scary. It was one of the first things I pulled out. I nevered used it, I don't have a death wish.

I said it above and I'll say it again, everything that is shown is optional. I'm not asking you to throw your plans for your truck out in the open. I'm simply asking that you show mods you have seen, or have pictures of. If you don't like it go elsewhere.

Re: Oddball Modifications?

We used to wire a can of "all day breakfast" (basically baked beans with suasages and bacon) to the exhaust manifold of my landrover when out off road and I have cooked bacon from scratch by just wrapping it in a few layers of foil and wrapping it round the manifold.

Re: Oddball Modifications?

When building my truck the a/c hoses and the power steering hoses were ran in ways that I had not seen before. I wanted a clean engine bay so the a/c lines were ran thru the inside of the fender and thru the cab vent, the power steering lines were ran thru the frame...

And, if it's not stock, how did you secure it to the floor?

well to tell the truth its not fastened to the floor because of the tapper of the hump it sits on the hump/floor seem...the top is cut to hook behind the dashboard lip and the seat keeps it tight forward..of coarse you can't move the seat but I think most of us run the seat all the way back...I had to build the face out because the radio was hitting the heater box and you can't tip them to much or the cd will skip...

I love the extra space to throw "Stuff" in it will hold a legal pad it alos has a panel inside the box to block the heater box a bottom and keeps your stuff in the box...I plan to cut 2 holes in the top and make a couple cup holders

hope that helps

I put 69 turn signals behind the grille of my 71 and foglights in the bumper holes. EVERYBODY let me know that was oddball.

Dude, you have some gauge problems! It looks like you have a tank and half of gas in it, and your oil pressure is about 1000 PSI!
