windshield wiper and blinker question
not alot of time to do much in life anymore except work... fml?
so i have an issue with my wipers where they are fully manual. its off, low, and high. where ever i stop them is where they stay. motor or what? and my left blinker doesnt shut of after a turn, the right one does though. cancelling cam? my truck will be mechanically sound once these two issues are resolved, and i get new tires...

Re: windshield wiper and blinker question
spaseghost, I hear you about the whole work thing. I am there. Back to the problem at hand. I have been having some of the same issues with my wipers, but haven't had time to work out the problem. I used a post from another member about the wiring to the motor. I found out that I have a broken ground wire between the switch and motor. I haven't had time to fix it properly. Also, I am good freinds with the local chevy dealerships owner and service manager, they have let me barrow their 1991 chevy square body service maunal. Much of the diagrams in this manual work on the 80s model trucks too. I will let everyone know what I discover for this problem.

Re: windshield wiper and blinker question
My wipers do the same thing, tried a different switch, no help, so it must be in the motor or the wiring. Apparently a pretty common problem.
On the t/signals, most definitely the canceling cam, one side broke off I'm sure. Some of these were replaceable without replacing the whole t/s switch, used to have the in the HELP section of most auto parts stores.

Re: windshield wiper and blinker question
Yeah, bad canceling cam. On the wipers, there's a disc like contact in the motor that turns as the wipers work. this disc has a slot for when the wipers get to the park position. this is what runs the wipers to the park position even if the switch is off. you can pull the motor off to see if you can clean up the contacts... otherwise just put a new motor on it.

Re: windshield wiper and blinker question
your signals won't cancel most likely you have a broken spring that the cancelling cam contacts to turn off the signal. You can get these springs at most auto parts stores in there "help" line. I would get it apart and get it fixed because the broken spring is floating around the inside of your steering column.
