That would be a nice one to restore or drive.

Probably minimum rust being from Odessa. Looks like a good restoration canidate even with the big block.

Re: Loaded burb in TX on Ebay

I have been watching it on ebay for the last couple of days. Except no dash A/C looks like it has everything a collector could want. The bidding is getting pretty close to the BIN price. Wonder if someone is just going to push the button?

I'm pretty sure the burbs never had dash A/C as an option, only overhead. This one has the most desirable roof rack (IMO) too. If I were in the market I'd click BIN in a heartbeat!

'72 got the A/C dash with the rear (only) overhead unit. The rear unit in the '72 was very similar to the '73-'91 unit.

Most definitely. There is a bunch of raw material there that does not need to be sourced off of our parts board after purchase.

Re: Loaded burb in TX on Ebay

My 72 suburban has both dash A/C and rear A/C. Don't know about 71' and earlier with tunnel A/C.

Yes and no. The cover that is the color of the headliner is a one year, one truck only part. There are a few of the internal components that will interchange, but as far as little to no mods--no, definitely not.

I actually have a bunch of information put together to do a post on the inner workings of the rear A/C unit. I guess I should post the info up already.

So, did anyone contact him? I'm pretty sure it was relisted after having sold at $3000 a couple of weeks ago.

68lowburb, Congratulations!! If I didn't already have a suburban that would have been one I would have tried to get. Please post a bunch of pictures of it when you get a chance. Let us know about your progress with it as well.

Re: Loaded burb in TX on Ebay

nice pick up. I would have been all over this had I saw it sooner. Would have been worth the drive to go get it too. Definitely would have hit the BIN.

Can't wait to see pictures of it to see what I missed out on.

Re: Loaded burb in TX on Ebay

i say restore and drive......3/4 tons are a minority....be a shame to change up that rare fully loaded burb. 1/2 tons are nice if thats what you are starting with but 3/4 tons have soo many advantages and there are still plenty of options for upgrades. the rear springs on a 1/2 ton burb don't belong anywhere but in a scrap iron bin....one of the few things my dad did to his 72 burb 25 years ago....went to 3/4 ton springs on the back. the coils on my truck are in great shape after 37 years. the larger brakes, big rear axle, thickened trailing arms, extra lugs, and beefy track bar all contribute to a sturdier vehicle. the stiffer springs help a bit with body roll (still going with big front and rear sway bars). i'd have been happy with a 1/2 ton burb, but it is all the more interesting having a rarer 3/4 ton model that can handle bigger loads.......like those 35 foot trailers you see behind late model HD trucks. its fun knowing my truck will be just as capable once i finish with a couple tweaks.

One of the guys at Early Classic Enterprises has a red 3/4 ton 71/72 Burb he fixed up and uses as a family daily driver. I'm sure he could help you out with suggestions as to waht to do with yours to keep it a 3/4 ton yet be used for practical use.
