What year cab do I have?
I have got a cab that was included with some other parts I bought for my 1968 truck. The guy I bought everything from said it was a 1967. The fenders and bed I got were 1967 but I do not think the cab is a 1967. It is stripped but I do know it is a factory a/c cab with a foot pedal style parking brake. The VIN tag on the door has # CE234-S114282. Can anybody help me figure out the year or where can I find information to figure out the year? Thanks for your time, Todd.

CE2 is a 2wd V8 1972 model year.

Re: What year cab do I have?
A dead tipoff for a '72 is that there are no holes drilled in the inner roof for the rear-view mirror. The General moved the mirror to the windshield in '72.

Re: What year cab do I have?
wrong and wrong
CE2 only means it is a 2 wheel drive V8 3/4 ton. And the rear view mirror wasn't standard till 70, so 67 - 69 could have had no drilled holes becouse it never had a mirror. Your VIN is not correct. The VIN you listed would be a 64 We know it isn't a 67 or 68 becouse of the foot parking brake We know it isn't a 72 becouse the VIN wouldd have an extra C in front of it. So it is a 69 - 71 Recheck your VIN and look at this page http://67-72chevytrucks.com/Chevyear.html |

Re: What year cab do I have?
Huh,
You learn something new every day. Is that documented, or just learned from experience?

Re: What year cab do I have?
Something that I've noticed on 67 and 68 cabs, is the differance under the gas tank. If the tank is out, you will see two L shaped 6" Tabs on the floor and going up the back of the cab. Some kind of extra supports??? I haven't seen many people say anything about this difference.

Re: What year cab do I have?
First I want to thank everybody for their help. I forgot to state the cab does have a mirror mount in the roof. I rechecked the VIN number and what I had is correct but I did notice that the tag reads GMC truck at the top. So now I am thinking the numbers are not correct because it is a GMC instead of a Chevy. I am sorry I did not notice this before. Thanks Longhorn Man for the link that breaks down the Chevy VIN #'s. Is there one for GMC trucks? Thanks again, Todd.

Re: What year cab do I have?
I don't have the GMC decode info with me... but I'll bet a kick to the daddy parts it is a 71.
A 72 would start with a T, and a 70 or older wouldn't have the pad for the mirror. |
