Exhaust through crossmember ?
Has anyone cut open the cross member that the trailing arms attach to run thier exhaust pipes through like the aftermarket cross member, is the original one strong enough to do this?

Re: Exhaust through crossmember ?
Several have been built like that. They weld in a piece of pipe to reinforce the crossmember and run the exhaust through it.

There is a write up on this in the FAQ section. Scroll down to the bottom of this page and you will see the “Forum Jump” box. Click on the down arrow at the right side of the box and scroll down to “FAQ Truck Tech”. Click on it to select it and click on the “GO” button. When you get to the FAQ Forum scroll down and click on the “FAQ Index Thread” link. Not only will you find a thread on this subject there, but you will find a multitude of other “how to” articles. I could have posted a direct link to the “how to” but now anyone that reads this thread will know how to get to the FAQ forum. There is a wealth of information there. Thanks to member “krew” for indexing the FAQ articles… LockDoc
