colored dash lamps

I have a white gage kit and would like to use colored dash lamps with it. I have not been able to find colored lamps or any kind of dye for clear lamps. Anyone know how this is done? Thanks Larry

I bought some from an outfit out of Florida. They had red, blue, purple and others. I have the white face gauges, and they look real cool...

Hey I have coloured Lights in my dash they are red I hooked 12 volts up to the dash and found that they were not very bright. I spoke to my Buddy and he said " If you just spray the gauge cluster floresent orange (the parts that origanly were green) you will get Red dash lights" He has done this to a few cars and he says that it works really good. I will try it soon, but it any of you guys want to go for it I am positive that it will work.

Mario

It does work, however, if you can't make up your mind on the color of the light, then just paint all that green white, and go with the colored bulbs. That's what i did...I've gone with red, amber, green and now blue bulbs.

I tried the colored bulbs in my 83 Peterbilt, they looked great for awhile, but faded badly. I ended up using some rubber boots made for covering lights (available at most truck stops from Barjan). The colored bulbs will last longer in a pickup or car because the lights arent on from sundown to sunup like they were in my Pete.

I've seen the colored 194 bulbs on the rack at Wal*Mart.

If you want to spend some $$, they have some that are stained glass instead of just painted or dipped in the color.
Try any of the big companys that sell scear lights or cater to the sport-compact scene. I think Jegs might have them.
The color is supposed to last a long time.
Personaaly, I have seen minimal fading on my bulbs and they have been in there for about 2.5 years now.
