Exhaust heat affect spark plugs

I'm using stock ram horn manifolds and no heat shields for spark plugs. (Yet) !
Is there an effective method to protect the plugs besides the stock metal shields?
I see MSD has a boot that slides over wire and plug they say works. Does it?

I run ramshorns and Accel 8mm strait boots and have never had a problem. No heat shields.

you could run straight boots and get some shields from a late 90's GM 3.8 rear cylinders.

I'm running bottom log manifolds and 90* boots with no shields. been that way for at least 5 years now.

It`s the plug wire that needs protected. But,not an issue here.I`ve always tossed those heat shields.I almost always run headers anyway.I`ve never had a problem in that area with my wires/boots.

Re: Exhaust heat affect spark plugs

Good to know. will check out boots and one other thing is keeping the wires in a nice curve away from the manifolds.
Thanks

I have... but then again I'm running hooker long tubes with angled spark plug heads...
They aren't kidding when they say they're not compatible. Number 5's boot dang near rests on the tube. And you have to take the drivers side header off to change the spark plugs on that side.

Are the Accel special insulated or their standard boots?
