Re: to big of a tire for raylle?
does anyone know where i can get the BFG 295/50/15's? TireRack says they're back ordered, but this has gone on for over a year. i know they pop up on craigslist sometimes, but usually are well worn. i love the look of that tire, with the raised white lettering

Re: to big of a tire for raylle?
i honestly dont think you'll be happy. i have a 295/50 on my 8.5 inchers and when i hit a corner you can feel the tire sidewall folding under the wheel.
and they do/did have a hell of a time mounting them!

Re: to big of a tire for raylle?
I wouldn't do it. That tire would be much better on a 10" wide rim.

Re: to big of a tire for raylle?
275/60-15's would be a perfect fit for your application.

Re: to big of a tire for raylle?
If it helps any here are my 275/60/15 on 8" truck rally. I would agree that 295 would be too wide for 8" rim

Re: to big of a tire for raylle?
yea 275/60/15 is about as wide as you want to go on a 8 inch rim. I've ran 275's on a 7 and 8 inch wheel inch rim, and no matter what pressure it was always wore out the middle of the tread when mounted on the 7's So I'm sure other than ill handling the centers will wear if you run a 295.

Re: to big of a tire for raylle?
I have 295/50's on 8's in the rear of my '73, I've never noticed an issue with cornering. I like how the sit on an 8" wheel. I haven't had them too long, but I haven't notice any odd wearing either. When I had them mounted, the guy had both of them done and balanced in about 10 minutes. ??
Here's pic of mine, also a pic of another local truck that runs 295's on 8" rallys. Go for it!!

Re: to big of a tire for raylle?
New to the sight.. but have had my '86 since 1988.. I've always had 8 inch rallys on the back with 295/50's and have never had a handling problem or mounting problem. In my opinion, it looks better than the 275/60 option. A little shorter but definitely wider. When these wear out, i'll buy another pair.

Re: to big of a tire for raylle?
I'd go with Firestone Firehawks. Great tires. They have your 295/50s. Go to http://www.firestonetire.com/tiresel...roduct_ID=1056 for sizing specs. I have the 255/70s around my truck. They have better wet traction than BFGs or Goodyears, and wear much better. I tried them all.

Re: to big of a tire for raylle?
Those are old style baby moons from the '70's, different from the 'smoothies' they have nowadays. I picked them up from the local junkyard for $10 a piece. The moon caps were a little beat up so I didn't use them. I had a set of '90's style stock center caps and they fit in the center of these wheels perfect. I'm happy with what they look like and they seem to be pretty unique... here's some more pics...

Re: to big of a tire for raylle?
the sectional width of a 295 is 11.62". Gonna have a lot of tire hanging over the wheel.

Re: to big of a tire for raylle?
This is a 275/60 on a 8 inch rallye, and you can see how much it hangs over on those.
