N00b...
Looking to be a Chevy owner once again pretty soon, if the stars line up in a couple weeks.
I bought my first Chevy in 1997, a 96 silverado. I had it for a few years, until it was totaled in a collision with an 18 wheeler. Note to self, never Tango with a Volvo 18-wheeler...       Next, I had a 67 bone stock Camaro Coupe, with a 250 3 on the tree, armstrong everything, and 65mph air conditioning. Owned it a year, then later sold it when I got a divorce. Now I may be picking up a 72 LWB C-10, soon.  It'll be a driveable project. It currently has a 250 with 3 on the floor (someone stuck in an aftermarket floor shifter), but was originally 3 on the tree. I like to tinker, and have been wanting to get a new project since the last ground up restoration of a sportbike I bought. From this:   To this:  Sort of an empty nest syndrome, if you will... I've been bouncing several scenarios around, like maybe maxing out the 250's capabilities, with maybe an overdrive transmission after it, for decent mileage. Current owner is claiming 21mpg. Or, like so many have done, a 5300 swap out, same mileage, but many more ponies... Lots to think about, but for now I'm going to be building a clean place to keep and work on it. I've lurked here the past few days, and have thoroughly enjoyed the stories, tech info, and writeups that have been done on various projects. I can't wait to add some of my own. Let the fun begin! Welcome! Hope you weren't hurt in your little "tango". You ought to get the motor and tranny from your '96 and put in your '72... or not

Trust me...
While I was in the towing yard getting the pictures, and collecting what was left of our personal belongings, I was mulling over buying it back, just for all the good parts.. or at least ripping out the drivetrain.. lol The truck only had like 45-50k on the clock when we had the wreck, and ran like a top... That was a long time ago now... That truck has been picked over, and what's left has probably been crushed by now... |

I think it rolled twice. At least it felt like it did...
We both walked away with minor scratches... The roof came down on my head, and did an abraision to my scalp, and she had a ding in her elbow... Both had seatbelts on. |

Hey welcome to the best boards around from MT. Sorry to hear about your luck with the semi glad to hear that everyone made it out ok though. Sweet bike i am liking it as well. Good luck on your project truck what ever you end up deciding to do with it.
