I believe that 69-72 were blue then 73 and up were yellow

Re: 3/4 ton stainless hubcaps (Blue Bowtie)

I have a 72 4x4 with 16" rims. Other than the fact that I'd have to cut out the center of two of them to fit over the front hubs, these should fit right? I don't really see "nubs" on my rims is my only concern. Silly question perhaps but were there ever rims that didn't have the ability to hold a hubcap?

If these fit would you do $110 shipped??

Re: 3/4 ton stainless hubcaps (Blue Bowtie)

those are too rare to cut up. gm did have them with the holes punched out already for the front axle...seen that type on here for sale in the past.

if my budget wasn't tight as a crabs......, i'd have bought them by now!

Re: 3/4 ton stainless hubcaps (Blue Bowtie)

I agree that these original blue chrome caps are to rare to cut or drill out,but you could get a set of the later model yellow centers or even gmc caps to cut/drill. I have seen wheels with no nubs and some with inside clips that were gone. I would not do $110 shipped at this time, but thanks for the offer.

Thanks Mike

Re: 3/4 ton stainless hubcaps (Blue Bowtie)

no worries, guess that means $140 shipped is out the door now??? Because I'm still interested at that price.
Any good places to look for these? Truck is entirely original other than a replaced carb (still have original carb though) and I'd like to keep it original looking so not interested in the 73+ hub caps.
Thank you for any thoughts on that.

Re: 3/4 ton stainless hubcaps (Blue Bowtie)

The $140 shipped is still good, I have only seen 2 sets of the original chrome 4x4 caps they are very hard to find. I guess you could cut/drill the 2 worst ones and not make to many enemies lol

Re: 3/4 ton stainless hubcaps (Blue Bowtie)

haha, because I'm new to this forum the first thought was just that actually. But, on the flip side, I figure to keep my truck for a very long time as stock as possible, and I would do just as you mention,,, and keep the truck looking original at the same time
