What's this part called and where can i get it?

hey guys, i got this compressor off of another forum and it did not come with the black thing on the side. can anyone point me in the direction of where to get it and what its called? or could i just make something to cover it, im not sure if something goes in there or not...its an airlift 450c

That looks to me like someone put the filter directly onto the housing. On mine there's a fitting which I have a line coming off of and then that same filter(but w/ the rest of it) inside the cab to keep it out of water.

so there is supposed to be a hose coming from there? i was looking at a new 450c and this is what it looks like new..




it kinda looks like a cap is missing or something, but im not sure if something goes inside there...

A filter should go in there with a cover over it. My viair came with the tube that lets you move the filter housing to another location so water and junk stays out of it if its mounted to the frame.

do I have to run a filter in there, or can I just put a cover over it? and where could I get the part at?

you need to run a filter . its works the same as the engine in your truck

You can buy the remote filter kits or replacements from Viair or one of there distributors local like Ekstensive. This is all the components a dual pack comes with new.

ah ok, looks like im missing the black cap and the filter inside. is it ok to run it with the cap and filter if its in the framerail? or should i get the one with the hose and run it inside the truck?

There is nothing wrong with mounting it inside, but according to RideTech it's not necessary. It does help if you remote mount it so it doesn't take so much abuse.
